I graduated as Master of Science in Physics and Mathematics at the Lomonossov Moscow State University in 1984. In 1989, I obtained my PhD degree in the same University, with a thesis entitled "Some questions of the computation ot the atoms correlation energy". Since 1989, I am working at the Mathematics Department of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), first as teaching assistant, then as assistant professor, and since 2013 as associate professor. I am a member of CEMAT since its creation in 1995. In 2006, I obtained the academc degree "Agregação" at IST. In 2011, I was awarded the title "Menção Honrosa" for my scientific production in the competition Santander -University of Lisbon.
