Abstract
This thesis is part of a global project which main purpose is to develop a modular and flexible Research Flight Simulator (SVI). Its specific goal is to develop the module responsible for the interface with the pilot in the simulation. This is done by the controls and instrumentation. Therefore, the following were implemented: generic commands to control an aircraft; electronic instrumentation type, divided in a PFD and a ND; PI and PID controllers with Anti Wind-Up; autopilots of altitude, heading and speed hold; navigation system consisted of DME, VOR and ILS tools; landing tunnel; graphical interface to control the navigation parameters. The circular from FAA AC 25-11 was considered when creating the visualization systems, using the program Microsoft Visual Studio Express C++ 2005 trough OpenGL libraries. It was also developed a new system to help in landing maneuvers, the landing tunnel. The rest of the software was implemented through MATLAB, using the Simulink tool in block diagrams manipulation and the GUIDE tool in the creation of a graphical interface. Finally, it was used a dynamic model of an airplane to test and evaluate the module, during several simulations of flights and landings. Even though the module was intended to a specific aircraft, it was designed to be adaptable and therefore respect the flexibility of the simulator.
