Abstract

A presente tese de mestrado investiga o tema do Habitat, com especial incidência no Habitat de génese rural, no contexto português. A linha temporal será o pós-Guerra, fase em que ocorreu uma humanização da arquitetura, e por essa mesma razão, é o principal tema discutido nos congressos do CIAM. É nesta última fase dos congressos, que é formado o grupo português. A tese debruça-se no contexto português da época, cedendo principal atenção ao Inquérito à Arquitectura Regional Portuguesa e à proposta portuguesa no CIAM X. O objeto de estudo é o projeto proposto no CODA do arquiteto Sérgio Fernandez, em Rio de Onor, pois suscita a introdução de novos temas e preocupações, mais sensíveis ao espaço da comunidade, e demonstram de que modo mundo rural serve de referência para uma relação harmoniosa entre o individuo e a comunidade. A investigação baseou-se sobretudo na recolha de documentos originais do Arquivo do Centro de documentação da FAUP e na entrevista ao arquiteto Sérgio Fernandez (participante no último CIAM, Otterlo).O tema surge da vontade de entender: Que características deverá tomar a estrutura do Habitat para restabelecer o equilíbrio (económico e social) das áreas rurais em Portugal? de forma a atenuar o seu despovoamento e estagnação. The present master's thesis investigates the theme of Habitat, with special focus on the Habitat of rural genesis, in the Portuguese context. The time line will be the Post-War period, a era in which a humanization of architecture occurred, and for this very reason, it is the main theme discussed in the CIAM congresses. It is in this last phase of the congresses that the Portuguese group is formed.And so, the dissertation focuses on the Portuguese context of the time, giving main attention to the “Inquérito à Arquitectura Regional Portuguesa” the and the Portuguese proposal at CIAM X. The case study is the project proposed at CODA by architect Sérgio Fernandez, in Rio de Onor, as it raises the introduction of new themes and concerns, more sensitive to the community space, and demonstrates how the rural world serves as a reference for a harmonious relationship between the individual and the community. The research was based mainly on the collection of original documents in “Arquivo do Centro de documentação da FAUP” and on the interview with the architect Sérgio Fernandez (participant in the last CIAM, Otterlo).The theme arises from the desire to understand: What characteristics should the habitat structure take in order to reestablish the balance (economic and social) of the rural areas in Portugal? In a way to mitigate its depopulation and stagnation.
