Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to demonstrate the potential applicability of virtual prototyping techniques in the development and optimisation of a new radial extrusion technology, which enables the complete forming in a single station of geometrically complex tubular components as those usually found in industry. As a mean to substantiate the feasibility of the developed radial extrusion concept and illustrate its production potential, an engineering component that can be manufactured advantageously by radial extrusion was produced in aluminium.
