Abstract
The high demand and competition of the actual market, caused by globalization and permanent technical evolution, highly pressurizes companies. In order to battle such pressure, Product Development is the process that allows product innovation, making them more competitive. Product Development allows to capture from the exterior the costumers needs and to analyze the competition products, that together with the innovation technique, Value Analysis, directs the development of models into Value creation. Products with more Value, mean more competitive products, fulfilling needs that clients are willing to pay. For products of intensive production, the product development, simultaneously with the development of the assembly system, becomes crucial for cost reduction and a lower market introduction timing. The structuring and methodology implementation of product development allow, by the other hand, lower costs and less time in a future development. The goal of this thesis is to study the innovation of an existing product, which the production is outsourced, of intensive production ?clothes peg, applying Product Development and integrating the Value Analysis technique. The final models developed are compared and evaluated in function of the production volume, as well as the functional concept of the assembly system for the selected models is developed.
