Resumo

The cutting behaviour of three different types of diamond grinding wheels is studied using four different ornamental stones: two different marbles, a granite, and a quartzite. The existent equipment allows electric energy consumption measurements to be made exclusively in the tool rotation motor. The behaviour of the tools during the grinding operation is explained by relations between the electric energy consumption needed to perform the grinding work, and the resultant force generated in the tool.
