Marija Vranic is Assistant Professor at IST, leader of SFPQ team. Her research is focused on plasmas in extreme conditions, where quantum effects can affect the collective plasma dynamics. She combines analytical theory and massively parallel computer simulations to test the concepts relevant for current and future experiments. Her team is also studying advanced computation techniques, in particular quantum algorithms.

Marija did her undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Physics at the University of Belgrade, with the diploma thesis research under the supervision of Prof. Zoran Lj. Petrovic at the Institute of Physics. Her PhD degree was completed in 2015 in the Group of Lasers and Plasmas at Instituto Superior Tecnico in Lisbon, under supervision of Prof. Luis O. Silva. After completing her studies, she has worked at ELI Beamlines in Czech Republic, and then went back to Lisbon where she is now an Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics.
