Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra since November 1996. Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering obtained at Instituto Superior Técnico in 2007. M.Sc. and Bachelor's degrees in Mechanical Engineering obtained at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade de Coimbra in 1999 and 1996, respectively. Researcher in the Center of Intelligent Systems from the Institute of Mechanical Engineering since 2004. Co-author of several scientific publications, including articles, book chapters, proceedings of peer-reviewed international scientific conferences, and several patents and utility models. Main research areas are wave energy and wave energy converters, modelling, control, PLCs, pneumatics and oil-hydraulics.
