Roberto Miele

PhD student and teacher assistant at the Instituto Superio Tecnico in Lisbon (CERENA research centre). I work on stochastic methods to explore and understand the physical properties of the deep Earth from geophysical data. My research focuses on both Deep Learning and global stochastic methods for seismic data inversion.

Roberto Miele is a PhD candidate at the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources Engineering of Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisbon). He received an MSc in Geology and Land Management and a BSc in Geology from the University of Bologna (Bologna, Italy) respectively in 2018 and 2015. He is currently specializing in deep learning and stochastic methods for inverse geophysical modeling of the subsurface. He has four years of experience with Python programming for data analysis and modeling in geosciences. Solid knowledge of geomatics and geostatistics, both from academic and working experience. Experienced in laboratory and field data acquisition, in both geophysical and geochemical fields. He furthermore organized and participated to several international conferences and worked as teaching assistant at the University of Lisbon for four years in two different courses.
