Complete biography

Dr. Sarat Chandra Mohapatra is a Researcher (FCT CEEC-IND/04879/2017, contract awarded in the Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus by FCT in the Discipline of "Mechanical Engineering" working at CENTEC, Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), ULisboa. He is also held a position of Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Academic Unit of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, department of Mechanical Engineering, IST. He received his Ph.D. in "Ocean Engineering and Naval Architecture", IIT Kharagpur, India. In 2016, his Ph.D. has been recognized/equivalence in "Naval Engineering" from IST by the ULisboa. He was awarded an NBHM (National Board of Higher Mathematics) Pos-doc. fellowship grant in July 2013 and worked few more months at IITKGP. From November 2013-March, 2019, he worked as a Pos-doc. Fellow in CENTEC to develop Science and Technology activities within the projects (FLOATERS (PTDC/ECM/111242/2009), MIDWEST (OCEANERA/0006/2014)) and strategic research plan of CENTEC. He develops different general hydrodynamic mathematical models and analytical solutions associated with wave-structure (rigid/flexible/elastic) based on linear and Boussinesq non-linear wave theory and provides a set of benchmark/fidelity levels of the solutions for wider applications to wave energy converters (WECs). He interacted with 15 collaborators (s) with their numerical and experimental model results for comparison purposes (s) to increase the feasibility of models developed in the Scientific domain of Engineering Sciences and Technologies with an emphasis on the area of Mechanical, Ocean, Naval, and Civil Engineering. During 2017-2022, he participated as a PI of the project "HYDROELASTWEB" and within this project, he contributes significantly to developing general mathematical models and analytical solution techniques for dealing with hydroelastic problems applications to breakwaters and WECs. Moreover, he is pursuing interdisciplinary research in collaboration with researchers of the background from Mechanical, Civil, Ocean, Naval Engineering, and Applied Mathematics. He has published 31-Journal papers (22-authored and 9-co-authored) of high impact factor, 16-Book chapters (6-authored and 10-co-authored), and two papers in Conference Proceedings in peer-reviewed Int'l repute. His publications demonstrate the interdisciplinary nature of his research work which has unique contributions to make a bridge between Scientists and Engineers. He has other relevant scientific contributions in terms of prizes/ awards /recognition /memberships/contracts in Int'l invited presentations, 3-prizes, 4-Int'l awards, member of 4-scientific societies, a couple of certificates received, several national, and Int'l participation programs in scientific events. He participates as a reviewer of 40 scientific Int'l Journals and 10 Int'l Conferences (link: https://www.webofscience.com/wos/author/record/1995536 ). Currently, he is acting as a Review Editor of Frontiers in Energy Research, and as a Guest Editor for a Special Issue of JMSE (MDPI).
