I am an experimental physicist specialized in developing and using high intensity, ultrafast laser systems. My research lab at IST is the Laboratory for Intense Lasers, a facility dedicated to the study of ultrahigh intensity laser-matter interaction. I am in charge of laser research, operation and development and I supervise the laser team. My research interests include nonlinear optics, ultrashort pulse characterization, ultrafast pulse shaping and novel amplification concepts and materials.
