Dulce Belo graduate in Applied Chemistry by Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 1995 and complete her PhD degree in Chemistry by Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Universidade de Lisboa, in 2002. D. Belo is mainly a preparative chemist, and has devoted most of her scientific career to the design, synthesis and physical characterization of new molecular materials with unconventional magnetic and transport properties. Special attention has also been given to the X-ray single crystal diffraction studies, has a crucial tool to correlate physical properties and crystal structure in the solid state. Among Molecular Materials, she developed pioneering work in the preparation and study of Single Component Molecular Metals (SCMM) and currently is involved in the, not less pioneering, experiences to process this new SCMM as active components for electronic devices. At present she coordinates her second FCT project dedicated to this theme. Her specialization derives from two post-Doc positions, one at Instituto Tecnológico e Nuclear (ITN, Portugal) and another in Instituto de Ciência de Materiais de Barcelona (ICMAB, Spain), which allowed her to consolidate her knowledge in the dithiolene and tetrathiafulvalene chemistry, respectively. Since 2008, first under the 'Ciencia 2007' programme and afterwards as a auxiliary researcher at IST, that D. Belo has her own line of research, within C2TN's solid state group (SSG) devoted to the study of molecular materials bearing thiophenic units. She supervised 2 PhD Students, who concluded their thesis in June 2013 and June 2017, 2 Post-doc researchers and 7 research students. At present she is the supervisor of a 1 PhD student. Her responsibilities also include teaching duties as Assistant Professor at the Chemistry department of IST. She is author or co-author of 64 international peer review papers, with over 700 citations. At present, D. Belo's h-index is 15. She regularly participates in the most important international schools and conferences of her scientific field, which has allowed her to present her work both through oral (25) and posters (73) presentations, to a large scientific community. Furthermore her research career benefited from the association with other scientists in different laboratories abroad, through the collaboration in over than 13 national FCT projects, as well as in international collaborative projects, in which she has been an active member (e.g. COST action D35 and MAGMANet NoE). She maintains active collaborations with ICMAB (Spain), INES-MN and Universidade de Aveiro. D. Belo is the responsible for the management of the SSG synthesis laboratory at C2TN. Between 2017-2020 she was a member of the Executive Commission of C2TN and the responsible for the outreach activities of this research Unit.
