I have +16 years of international experience, with major interests in energy and geoscience, and a PhD degree in Earth-resources from Instituto Superior Tecnico, University of Lisbon. Currently I am a CCUS Researcher at University of Evora in the aim of the EU funded project PilotSTRATEGY - CO2 Geological Pilots in Strategic Territories. I am a collaborator of ICT - Institute of Earth Sciences (Energy Group) since 2022, and of CERENA research centre since 2007, where I started as a Geoscience Researcher from 2007 to 2012, and in 2023 as Invited Assistant Professor of the course Geophysical Interpretation and Inversion, MSc in Energy Resources Engineering, Instituto Superior Tecnico. I started my career as a Geoscience researcher at CERENA, Instituto Superior Tecnico University of Lisbon (2007-2012) and at that time I coordinated industry funded projects, covering spatial numerical modelling using geophysical information and geostatistical methods for subsurface characterization including uncertainty quantification. I was lecturer of practical classes of Fundamentals of Reservoir Engineering course, MSc degree in Mining and Geological Engineering, which allowed me to gain important teaching and mentoring capabilities. During this time, I conducted my PhD studies (2010-2015) in Earth Sciences and was a pioneer visitor student at Heriot Watt University, where I learnt about machine-learning methods and understand the importance of mobility for knowledge growth. I acquired high-level skills in optimization techniques for spatial analysis characterization and how to assess its associated uncertainty. This visiting period facilitated the mobility of other students at MSc. and Ph.D. levels in the subsequent years. From 2012 to 2021, I have worked in the industry as a Geoscientist for two major international oil and gas companies and enriched my technical skills in geophysics and its applications for qualitative and quantitative characterization of the subsurface. My experience in integrating long-term corporative projects (such has the World¿s largest 3D continuous acquisition survey project recently with ADNOC), team management and project coordination in a timely manner (experience gained as being focal point of several projects while working in industry) contributed for the build-up of strong management and organizational skills. Even while working for industry, my passion for science and knowledge sharing has been a constant: I am author and co-author of several publications, kept contributing to several workshops, speaker in international conferences and academic seminars (I have been invited several times to give seminars at IST-UL for the Mining and Petroleum Engineering degrees). I also delivered in-house sessions; and was speaker, moderator and part of technical committees of the major international conferences related to Earth modelling in the Middle East region. I participated and followed-up industry/academia research and development (R&D) projects and training/mentoring of young professionals and trainees.
