Pedro M. S. Carvalho received the electrical and computer engineering degree, the M.Sc. degree, and the Ph.D. degree from the Instituto Superior Tecnico (IST), Technical University of Lisbon, Lisbon, Portugal, in 1992, 1994, and 1999, respectively. Since 1992, he has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computers, IST, where he is currently a Full Professor. Carvalho has also been a collaborator of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Carnegie Mellon University, USA, where he is an Adjunct Professor since 2015.
