Biografia completa

I received a B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering (1989), a Ph.D. in Biotechnology (1997) and, in 2002, a Tenure as Assistant Professor of the Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering, at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. In 2011, I joined the new Department of Bioengineering (DBE). Throughout the years, I have taught/coordinated various curricular units (e.g., Proteins and Enzymes, Cell and Tissue Engineering, Biomolecular/Cell Engineering, Separation and Purification Processes of Biomolecules, Enzyme Engineering, Biological Engineering Laboratory, Outreach and Teaching Skills) to students in different B.Sc., M.Sc. and doctoral programs. In 2019, I became a member of the Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences (iBB), which in 2021 was integrated in the Institute for Health and Bioeconomy (i4HB, Associate Laboratory). My scientific formation includes experience with animal cell culture and hybridoma production, immunotechnologies, ligand-protein affinity interactions, and purification and characterization (biochemical, kinetic and spectroscopic) of enzymes and immunoglobulins. Concomitantly with my pedagogical activity, I have developed scientific research in these trust areas, participating in or leading different funded projects and supervising several B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. theses.
