Luís L. Alves is a Full Professor with the Department of Physics of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) and the Head of the group N-Reactive Plasmas: Modelling and Engineering (N-PRiME) of Instituto de Plasmas e Fusão Nuclear. He has been the President of the Department of Physics of IST between 2017-2018. He is an expert in the modelling and simulation of plasmas kinetics and plasmas sources aiming their optimization. His experience covers the development and characterisation of different RF/HF plasma sources and the multi-dimensional dynamic description of reactive gas/plasma systems, namely in N2 and H2 and O2. He is the author of more than 80 publications in international journals and books, and he delivered circa 30 invited lectures and oral communications.
