Mário Figueiredo received his PhD (1994) and "Agregado" (2004) degrees in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, where he is a Distinguished Professor and the Feedzai Professor of Machine Learning. He is area coordinator at Instituto de Telecomunicações. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, IAPR, EURASIP, and ELLIS, and received the IEEE Signal Processing Society Best Paper Award, the IEEE Baker Award, the IAPR Pierre Devijver Award, the EURASIP Technical Achievement Award.
