Ismayil M. Garazade is a PhD candidate at Centro de Química Estrutural, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, whose research focuses on coordination chemistry, metal-based catalysis, functional materials, and sustainable chemical transformations. His work combines the design and structural investigation of metal complexes, multinuclear copper systems, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), coordination polymers, and other porous materials with their applications in catalysis, sensing, separation, and environmental chemistry. His research encompasses diverse catalytic transformations, including cyclohexane oxidation to ε-caprolactone, CO₂ cycloaddition with epoxides, and metal-mediated organic transformations. A particular focus is placed on understanding the relationship between metal nuclearity, coordination environment, supramolecular interactions, and catalytic performance. His research also extends to MOF- and COF-based sensing, contaminant capture, separation technologies, and environmental monitoring. By combining synthesis, structural characterization, spectroscopy, catalytic evaluation, and computational studies, his work connects fundamental coordination chemistry with the development of functional, sustainable materials.
