Abstract
The increase in the diversity of portable ultra-low power electronic systems has led to the search for energy sources that can replace batteries. Thus, the concept of energy harvesting appears as a low-cost form of available supply, which aims to replace conventional means, despite the power constraints. This work aims to study and implement a prototype of a power management unit provided by an organic photovoltaic cell. The main objective is to design a fully integrated DC-DC converter that uses the photovoltaic cell's output voltage, which is expected to be non-constant and low (of the order of hundreds of mV), to deliver a regulated standard voltage (1.2V) to a load. The work reports a fully CMOS implementation of a boost DC-DC converter, in descontinuos conduction mode, and the implemented strategy to regulate the converter output voltage, using a very-high frequency oscillator at 1.2GHz. The proposal allows the supply from the OPV without external sources or external magnetics..
