Ultimate Limit State of Punching in the (fib) FIP Recomendations for the Design of Post-Tensioned Slabs and Foundations

This paper describes the formulation of the Ultimate Limit State of punching resistance of prestressed slabs proposed in the new FIP Recommendations for the design of post-tensioned slabs and foundation rafts. The prestress effects were considered on the action side defining an effective applied punching load. For the evaluation of the punching resostance, CEB-FIP Model Code 90 was followed. An example of the application of this method to an interior column of a prestressed flat slab is presented.
