Abstract
In this work, the study of different TPV technologies is performed. The project consists on substituting the brick facades of a house with TPV panels included in glass. This transparent photovoltaic system is implemented in the simulation of a house based on a building in Lisbon and another one in Stockholm (representing a warm and a cold climate, respectively), in order to understand the differences on the energy consumption for each location and each kind of photovoltaic technology. At the end of the project, the monthly electricity bill is detailed so that the influence of the selling of the surplus energy coming from the PV panels is analysed. The results of this analysis show that the house with its initial construction is the one with the best energy efficiency. Within the houses with TPV, the one with less transparency and higher PV efficiency is the one with lower energy demand in the Lisbon location. This changes when the location in Stockholm is studied - all the houses have, more or less, similar behaviours on the energy demand. When it comes to the billing, it's possible to see that the selling of the surplus energy produced by the PV plays a significant role in the monthly electricity costs. Even though, the TPV still have a long way to get commercially viable in the residential housing. The high values of demand can't be yet counterbalanced by the PV power production.
