Abstract
This dissertation studies how Building Information Modelling (BIM) can improve construction planning compared to traditional methods. It shows how BIM supports better time control, clearer organization, and improved communication in construction projects. Traditional planning tools like Gantt charts and CPM are often used, but they can lead to delays, budget overruns, and coordination problems. BIM offers a better solution. It includes time data and shows the full construction sequence using 3D and 4D simulations. This allows teams to spot issues early and make better decisions. This research compares both approaches by applying software used in real projects. Autodesk Revit was used to create a digital building model. Microsoft Project helped define the timeline. Then, Navisworks integrated the two, producing a visual simulation of the construction stages. The study shows that BIM helps teams work together, avoid mistakes, and stay on time. It also prepares future engineers to use tools common in the industry. The results confirm that BIM improves efficiency, teamwork, and project control. This research supports using BIM in civil engineering to replace older planning methods.
