Abstract

Human resources (HR) management involves a series of complex processes that are often time-consuming and prone to errors. These issues frequently lead to repetitive tasks and inefficiencies in HR operations, underscoring the critical need for innovative and effective solutions to enhance process optimization. To address these challenges, many organizations are shifting towards technological advancements, notably Robotic Process Automation (RPA). RPA is currently a widely accepted technology, and offers a software-based approach to automate structured, rule-based tasks, known for their predictability and consistency. This technology presents numerous benefits for HR, including improved accuracy, compliance, service speed, efficiency, and financial gains. This research conducts a systematic literature review, guided by four key research questions, to thoroughly examine the impact of RPA in HR management. The review not only supports findings from previous studies but also highlights new aspects about the topic. The primary research problem focuses on addressing the inefficiencies and resource-intensive nature of HR management processes. Through the Action Research Approach, the study aims to propose a comprehensive strategy for automating processes in HR management, targeting the identified research problem. The research involves the development of a practical artifact, which is implemented and tested in a real-world organizational setting. The recruitment process is specifically chosen for the demonstration of this artifact. Its effectiveness is evaluated against a set of clearly defined criteria and performance metrics. This study contributes to the field by providing a practical, technology-driven solution to streamline HR operations, with a focus on the transformative potential of RPA.
