Abstract
In reservoir simulation understanding the fluid flows is a complex and mandatory task to solve optimization problems in order to enhance hydrocarbon recovery in the reservoir. In the last years an important aspect of computational methods is the ability to accurately represent fluid fronts with the purpose of demonstrate the fluid path and reduce the computation time. One possible solution is to use a faster computation technique, such as streamlines. However, even streamlines computations requires solving a pressure equation, at least once, and for huge heterogeneous models this can be a challenge. In this study, it’s used the Fast-Marching Method (FMM), which roughly solves the Eikonal equation calculating the first arrival time for all the neighbors connected with the grid block and then choses the faster one, this numerical method calculates the connected volume to a well using slowness as property. This work aims to test how is to compare the streamlines computed by the Total intern software called Destiny+ and the graphs (skeletons) computed either with the Fast-Marching Method (FMM) and with the propagation method using one properly interface in SISMAGE. The validity of this study it’s demonstrated, firstly comparing the shape of the flow path of each computation, and secondly applying the 4D signal in a seismic section.
