Abstract

Different efforts have been developed focusing on the alignment between organizations’ concepts. From these initiatives, two have had outstanding relevance: Enterprise Architecture (EA) and IT Service Management (ITSM). However, these two approaches are often used complementarily and simultaneously. The integration of both approaches avoids the need to adopt different frameworks covering overlapping topics. In the literature we found few scientific papers regarding this integration. Although some have tried to integrate these two approaches, we have not identified a proposal satisfying our integration requirements. The lack of integration proposals increases the problem’s relevance. This dissertation proposes the integration between EA and ITSM through the integration of two of the best known and used frameworks, respectively TOGAF and ITIL. We analysed the relationship among the concepts from TOGAF and ITIL identifying a common ontology. We identified similarities between both approaches and mapped the integration using ArchiMate as a mutual modelling language to model ITIL, defining an ITIL metamodel and an ArchiMate specialization. Based on Design Science Research methodology we demonstrated and evaluated our research proposal using a set of ITIL models and applying the proposal in a field study inside a public organization. Diferentes esforços têm sido desenvolvidos visando alinhar as diferentes dimensões organizacionais. Dessas iniciativas, duas têm tido maior relevo: Enterprise Architecture (EA) e IT Service Management (ITSM). Contudo, estas abordagens são frequentemente usadas complementarmente e em simultâneo. A integração destas abordagens, num referencial comum, evita a necessidade de adoptar diferentes quadros de referência cobrindo em sobreposição os mesmos tópicos. Da revisão bibliográfica constatámos que existem poucas referências científicas em matéria de integração e as que existem não satisfazem os nossos requisitos de integração. A ausência de propostas de integração aumenta a relevância do problema. Esta dissertação propõe a integração das abordagens EA e ITSM através da integração de dois dos quadros de referência de maior relevo, respetivamente, TOGAF e ITIL. Analisámos o relacionamento entre conceitos TOGAF e ITIL identificando uma ontologia comum. Identificámos semelhanças entre ambas as abordagens e mapeámos a integração usando a linguagem ArchiMate como uma linguagem de modelação mútua para modelar o ITIL, definindo um metamodelo para o ITIL e especializando a linguagem ArchiMate. Baseada na metodologia Design Science Research, demonstrámos e avaliámos a nossa proposta através de um conjunto de modelos ITIL e aplicando a proposta como caso prático numa organização pública.
