Abstract
The first part of this work reports the study of the relation between preparation conditions and properties of poly(ethylene oxide)-copper perchlorate thin film electrolytes., prepared by sovent casting. Their characterization involved differential scanning calorimetry and polarized light microscopy, allowing the establishment of a pseudo phase diagram. Electron spin resonance and conductivity studies were also performed in order to obtain additional information. In the second part, we describe the syntheis and characterization of several cation-radical salts. Starting from teh model family of electronic conductors (perylene)2M(mnt)2, M=transition metal and mnt=maleonitriledithiolate, the effect of inclusion of pendent groups or bulky atoms on the perylene skeleton on his ability to form organic conductors was investigated, using perylo[1,12-b,c,d]thiophene and 1,2,7,8-tetrahydrodicyclopenta[cd:lm]perylene. The effect of the sulfur/selenium substitution on teh electrically inactive anionic complexes was also studied. Several other compounds were prepared, using tetramethyltetraselenafulvaklene and tetrathiafulvalene donors and variosu metal bisdithiolate and metal bisdiselenolate anions. Their characterization involved electrical conductivity, thermopower, magnetic susceptibility and electron spin resonanace studies. A synthetic route to teh new TBA2Ni(mns)2 compound, TBA=tetrabutylammonium and mns=maleonitrilediselenolate, was developed.
