Nelson Carriço holds a 5-year graduation in Water Resources Engineering (2004), a Master’s degree in Hydraulics and Water Resources (2008), and a PhD in Civil Engineering (2014). Currently is an Adjunct Professor at ISEL/IPL.

Nelson Carriço holds a 5-year graduation in Water Resources Engineering (2004), a Master’s degree in Hydraulics and Water Resources (2008), and a PhD in Civil Engineering (2014). He worked for five years as a consultant in the field of planning and design of urban water infrastructure projects. He was a research fellow at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) for five years, during which he participated in European research projects and carried out his doctoral research. He began his academic career in higher education teaching in 2011, lecturing on several courses in the field of Hydraulics and Water Resources, including Hydraulics I, Hydraulics II, Urban Hydraulics I, Hydrology and Water Resources. In parallel with his teaching activities, he has been involved in several national and international research projects and has coordinated three national projects funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) in the field of the digitalization of urban water infrastructure. He is the author of more than 30 scientific articles published in indexed international journals, over 50 papers presented at national and international conferences, and 10 book chapters. He also has extensive experience in supervising master’s dissertations and doctoral theses. He is a member of the R&D center CERIS – Civil Engineering Research and Innovation for Sustainability.
