Arman Kakaie is a Ph.D. student and research assistant in Centre for Marine Technology and Ocean Engineering (CENTEC), Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. He received his B.Sc. in civil engineering at university of Kurdistan (UOK), Iran in 2013 and M.sc. in structural engineering at Bu-Alisina University, Iran with overall GPA of 17.58/20 in 2016. His master research was working on Isogeometric Analysis (IGA) which is a new computational method for structural analysis. Afterwards, he continued as a lecturer and research assistant at UOK under the supervision of Professor Azad Yazdani until 2020 working for a project on uncertainty modelling and reliability assessment of Iranian structural steel design code. In October 2020, he has managed to be accepted at IST as a researcher. Since then he has been involving in different projects working on stochastic load combination in ship structures, fatigue reliability analysis of submarine pipelines and time-dependent reliability analysis of structures under the supervision of Professor Carlos Guedes Soares. He had apportunity to visit Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in Malaysia and Mahidol University in Thailand for Reliability and Safety Engineering for Large Maritime Engineering Systems (RESET) project. He has published several journal papers through these projects.
