João P. C. Tomé (JT) is an Associate Professor (2016) with Habilitation in Chemistry (2022) at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) of the ULisbon. He graduated from the UAveiro (1996), where he also completed his PhD (2001), both in Chemistry. Following postdoctoral appointments at UAveiro and CUNY, with additional research visits to UPadova, UAMadrid, NYU and UTexas, he returned to UAveiro in 2008 as Auxiliary Researcher. In recognition of his scientific contributions, JT was awarded a Development Grant from FCT in 2012. During this period, he held various international positions, including: Associated Assistant Professor at UGhent; Visiting Associate Researcher at UFF (Brazil); Visiting Associate Professor at UKyoto; and Weill Cornell CTSC KL2 Scholar, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York. JT commenced his teaching activities in 1996 at UAveiro, and later served as an Adjunct Lecturer at Hunter College (CUNY). Upon his return to Aveiro (2008), he was mostly involved in the Doctoral and Master Chemistry programs. JT has actively participated in numerous national, bilateral, and international Projects and Grants, assuming the role of PI for some of them. Over the years, he has successfully (co)supervised 15 PhD, 20 Master and several BSc students. He has published over 200 papers, accumulating more than 8600 citations, 7 book chapters and 3 issued patents. Tomé has shared his expertise through over 50 invited lectures and seminars at various national and international scientific meetings and universities. Additionally, he has contributed as an author or co-author to more than 60 other oral communications and over 250 posters. In addition to his various responsibilities, JT has also taken an active role in organizing or co-organizing several meetings and symposia; evaluating grant proposals and fellowships for various funding agencies, serving as editorial board member and referee for several journals.
