João Narciso is an integrated researcher of Centre for Natural Resources and Environment (CERENA), with a Ph.D. in Earth Resources (Instituto Superior Técnico and Ghent University), and 15 years of experience in geoscience research and spatial data science, especially in subsurface modelling and characterization using geophysical inversion, probabilistic and machine learning methods.

João Narciso holds degrees in Geology (2005) and Civil Engineering (2009), both from Univ. Coimbra, and also an MSc in Geological and Mining Engineering (2009) from the same university and an MSc in Petroleum Engineering (2015) from IST. João has a Ph.D. in Earth Resources (2023) from IST, Univ. Lisboa, with a dissertation entitled “Geostatistical inversion of geophysical data for near-surface modelling and characterization”. He has 9 articles published in journals and 1 book chapter, more than 50 conference presentations, organized 3 scientific events, participated as Researcher in 10 scientific projects and in his professional activities interacted with 46 collaborators co-authorship of scientific work. Currently, his main research interests are related to the modelling and characterization of natural and anthropogenic near-surface environments, using geophysical inversion, probabilistic and machine learning methods.
