Alexandra M. M. Antunes is Assistant Professor at the Chemical Engineering Department, Instituto Superior Técnico da Universidade de Lisboa, since 2022.Her multidisciplinary skills are the result of a strong core background in Organic Chemistry, combined with industry/academia R&D experience, which provided additional solid and unique expertise in Chemical Toxicology and Analytical tools.

Research interests

Chemical Toxicology: Mechanisms of toxicology induced by chemicals agents from endogenous, environmental, drug, diet and occupational exposure sources. Synthesis and Structural Analysis of covalent DNA and protein adducts, with emphasis on Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy and Mass Spectrometry. Development and validation of analytical methods for detection and quantification of biomarkers of exposure to toxicants with emphasis on HPLC-MS and MALDI-TOF-MS
