My work focuses on the practical development and application of Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) theory, a theory that describes how organisms acquire and allocate energy to growth, development, and reproduction. DEB models have been created for more than 7300 species with applications in aquaculture, ecotoxicology, and climate change. I develop computational methods to facilitate and improve the calibration of DEB models. I also employ DEB theory to quantify the productive output and environmental impacts of beef production and to guide ways to improve them.
