I'm an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Instituto Superior Técnico at University of Lisbon, and a member of the Distributed Systems Group at INESC-ID research lab. I received my Ph.D. degree at Max Planck Institute for Software Systems (MPI-SWS) / Saaland University in November 2013, under the direction of Rodrigo Rodrigues and Krishna P. Gummadi. In the summer of 2010, I was an intern at Microsoft Research Redmond, working with Himanshu Raj, Stefan Saroiu, and Alec Wolman. My current research interests lie in the area of trustworthy computing, security, and operating systems. In my recent work, I have built several systems aimed at improving trust in emerging cloud and mobile platforms. This was primarily achieved by exploiting the potential of trusted computing hardware, namely TPM and ARM TrustZone technology. At MPI-SWS, I have also collaborated in the design of a content delivery system for making bulk data transfers more efficient within backbone ISPs. In the past, I have worked on several middleware platforms aimed at managing distributed state of mobile applications.
