Filipe Mendes holds a degree in Engineering Physics (1989), a MSc in Mechanical Engineering (1994) and a PhD in Physics Engineering (2003), from IST. His academic career started in 1989 as Trainee Assistant at the Department of Mathematics of IST and he is Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics of IST since 2003. His research interests focus mainly on thermal behaviour of buildings, solar assisted refrigeration, solar energy and solar energy concentration, thermal energy storage and simulation of thermal systems.
