Miguel Ayala Botto received the MSc degree (1992) and the PhD degree (1996) in Mechanical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon, Portugal. He has been with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IST, University of Lisbon, where he is a Full Professor and integrated member of LAETA - the Associated Laboratory for Energy, Transports and Aeronautics. His research interests focus on nonlinear control, spanning from robotic systems to large complex transportation networks.
