Interesses científicos

The ultimate goal of my research is to make computers extract high level information from an image sequence by seeking its simplest interpretation. I'm mainly interested in statistical and information-theoretic models, as well as in efficient algorithms to perform inference with respect to those models. Application areas are in virtual reality --- automatic generation of unseen panoramic views and complete 3D models --- and digital video --- content-based representations suitable for compression, addressing, and non-linear editing
Besides computer vision and image analysis, my other research interests include statistical signal processing, stochastic processes, machine learning, pattern recognition, nonlinear systems, automatic control
