I had my PhD in 1990, supervised by Dr. Emílio Fernandes Tavares Ribeiro. The research of my thesis was performed at the former Instituto de Física e Matemática, or Complexo I do INIC, starting as an undergraduate in 1979. The formal defense was at IST. Presently I am an Associate Professor at the Physics Department of IST. I was elected in 2025 for the School Council (Concelho de Escola), the board of directors of Instituto Superior Tecnico, a faculty of the University of Lisboa.
