Helena Sarmento graduated and received her MsC and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. She joined Instituto Superior Técnico in 1979, as teaching assistant, and she is since 1996 an Associate Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Area of Electronics. In 1981, she joined INESC, and is currently a senior researcher in the ESDA group, in the research line of Embedded Electronic Systems, at INESC-ID. Her interests include wireless communication systems, embedded systems including reconfigurable platforms, and the Internet of Things.
