His research interests and activities cover topics in the kinetic model of discharges and post-discharges of atomic and molecular gases, produced using either dc or microwave discharges, with application to surface treatments, plasma sterilization, and simulation of planetary atmospheres. The high temperature state-to-state chemical-physical models for hypersonic flows in planetary atmospheric re-entries and the ultra-cold plasmas are other two topics of his interests. He is author of the books "Física Relativista: Mecânica e Eletromagnetismo", "Elementos de Eletrodinâmica Clássica", "Eletromagnetismo e Ótica" e "Exercícios de Eletromagnetismo e Ótica", published by IST Press in 2008, 2013, and 2018, and of the book "Kinetics and Spectroscopy of Low Temperature Plasmas" with Jayr Amorim published by Springer in 2016.
