When it is not taken seriously it can have negative impact on living, esthetical and, ultimately, structural conditions. \r\nThe rehabilitation of walls affected by salt can frequently be problematic. Experience indicates that interventions only have a temporary effect since symptoms of the phenomenon usually reappear over time.\r\nThe present thesis main objectives can be resumed as understanding the efflorescence phenomena, contributing to enrich the knowledge on the evaluation techniques concerning this anomaly and other saline compounds.\r\nTo apply in various case studies, a diagnosis methodology is defined. Interaction between the different techniques applied during this thesis can substantially increase the quality of the evaluation of walls affected by salts.\r\nThese techniques can be divided into three groups: sensorial analysis, which use, as its name suggests, the human body senses, in-situ evaluation and laboratorial techniques.
